NORTHVILLE, Mich. – A lawsuit has been filed over the handling of the Northville Downs redevelopment project as residents express concerns over the environmental impacts. The lawsuit names the city of Northville and the project’s developers to transform the old Downs racetrack into a multi-purpose site with housing, parks, and retail.

Fire in Ypsilanti-area home causes $50K in damages
WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI – A fire at a Washtenaw County home caused roughly $50,000 worth of damages. Ypsilanti Township fire crews were called around 3:30 a.m. Saturday, July 13, to the 2000 block of Woodruff Lane for a confirmed structure fire, said Lt. Pete White. When crews arrived, they found fire inside the single-family home and had to force open the door.

Dioxane from Gelman’s Scio Township plant leaked into Ann Arbor’s groundwater, creating a plume of contamination more than 4 miles long.
