St. Louis City officials working to add gender-neutral bathroom to recreation center
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4)—St. Louis City officials hope to start work to add a gender-neutral bathroom to a recreation center. Last year, St. Louis Mayor Tishaura Jones signed an executive order to support transgender people, in part by making public spaces more inclusive. The Cherokee Rec Center would be the first to make changes by renovating two staff bathrooms into a gender-neutral locker room and bathroom.
Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton goes to the dogs for Yappy Hour
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Le Meridien St. Louis Clayton is celebrating Yappy Hour every Tuesday in August. In honor of National Dog Month, a $15 cover charge reserves a table for people and their pooches from 3 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays. Part of the proceeds go to the Animal Protective Association.
Cars broken into in the Benton Park neighborhood
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - St. Louis police are looking for surveillance video after numerous cars were broken into in the Benton Park neighborhood. Officers were called to Lynch and Congress Street early Thursday morning for car break-ins. Neighborhood leaders said at least 20 cars were hit. A First Alert 4 photographer on the scene later in the day found broken glass in the street and bashed in windows.

Man arrested after carjacking, police chase in Hamilton Heights
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man is in police custody after a carjacking and police chase in St. Louis’ Hamilton Heights neighborhood on Wednesday. According to police, a man was approached by two suspects, one of who was armed with a gun, around 11 p.m. in the 1400 block of Hodiamont. The victim said the man with the gun hit him over the head, and then the two men got into his Nissan Altima and drove off.
