MANCHESTER, Tenn. (WKRN) — The Manchester Police Department announced that, after months of investigating, authorities have arrested two men in connection with a November 2023 bank robbery.

The agency announced the arrests of 25-year-old Stephen Hampton and 25-year-old Marquez Wynn in a Facebook post Friday afternoon. Officials stated that these arrests were made with support from the FBI.

The robbery in question occurred on Nov. 22, 2023 at Capstar Bank in the 1800 block of Hillsboro Boulevard. Authorities said the bank was robbed by a then-unidentified man who entered the bank and told employees to fill bags with money. Once he got the money, a witness saw the man enter a car and exit the area.

Initially, the department collected evidence by interviewing both eyewitnesses and victims. That collection resulted in the discovery of an identical vehicle that had entered the city prior to the robbery, which subsequently led police to a Murfreesboro business. That investigation, combined with CCTV footage, ultimately led to Hampton’s identification.

After Hampton was identified, the FBI got involved. Together, local and federal law enforcement identified Wynn as the second suspect before gathering intelligence over the course of several months. Eventually, agencies gathered enough evidence and conducted search warrants at both suspects’ homes on June 13. There, officials said they found more evidence tying the men to the November robbery.

Manchester police expect to pursue charges for the crimes, both locally and federally.
