On Saturday July 13th, the much-anticipated summer art festival returns to the heart of Mantua. The day-long street festival encompasses both sides of East Prospect Street, and features local and regional artisans selling ceramics, paintings, pottery, jewelry, photography, metal art, woodwork and hand-blown glass. New grant to trim cost of sewer work in Ravenna Township's Chinn Allotment
RAVENNA TWP. − Homeowners in the Chinn Allotment stand to save a little more money on a pricey sewer project in Ravenna Township, thanks to another grant toward the project. Daniel Blakely, director of Portage County Water Resources, said the department applied for $500,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds toward the Chinn Allotment, which he said would lower the cost by about $2,000 to each "benefit user." Residents now are facing a $16,000 assessment per lot, plus additional fees for things such as tying into the system.

Millions of dollars in state funding are headed to Portage County, with some allocations larger than originally thought. The Ohio House of Representatives has approved Substitute House Bill 2, the state’s two-year construction budget for capital projects throughout the state. State Rep. Gail Pavliga of Portage County said statewide, the bill will allocate more than $4.2 billion for capital projects, including $717 million in one-time project funding from the Strategic Community Investment Fund.

Ohio’s casinos, racinos report uptick in May gambling revenue
CLEVELAND, Ohio — Ohio’s casinos and racinos saw an uptick in gambling revenue and had their best May since 2021. The state’s 11 casinos and racinos brought in a combined $204 million in May, up from $196 million in 2023 and $202 million in 2022.
