    Girl, 2, dies after dad left her locked in car during blistering triple-digit Arizona heat

    Authorities say a two-year-old girl in Arizona died after her father abandoned her in a sweltering car during the state's triple-digit temperatures.

    The 2-year-old was purposefully left in the car by the father when he returned home from running errands with his daughter on Tuesday afternoon, according to Marana Police Capt. Tim Brunenkant. According to Brunenkant, he left the air conditioner on and the car running.

    The father went inside, and when he came out of the home about 30 to 60 minutes later, the automobile was turned off, according to Brunenkant. The police captain said the father contacted 911 because the 2-year-old was not responding. According to the police , she was transferred to a hospital and later declared dead.

    On Tuesday, the temperature in Marana rose to an intense 111 degrees. Marana is located close outside of Tucson, where there is a warning in effect for extreme heat. The loss of life was referred to by Brunenkant as a "heat-related tragedy." According to Brunenkant on Wednesday, charges have not been ruled out even if none have been filed as of yet.

    According to him, authorities are searching the neighborhood for security footage and conducting interviews. The nationwide charity KidsAndCars.org reports that as of now this year, at least nine children have perished in overheated cars across the US.

    According to KidsAndCars.org, at least 1,093 children died in overheated cars since 1990, with 3 years old or younger accounting for around 88% of these deaths.

    Over the recent fourth of July weekend, a toddler died from heat-related illness while aboard a boat in Lake Havasu. The 4-month-old baby was sent to a nearby hospital at approximately 5:10 p.m. due to overheating, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.

    After being brought to Phoenix Children's Hospital, the child died from their injuries, according to the authorities. As per the National Weather Service, Lake Havasu recorded a temperature of 121 degrees that day. How long the infant had been on the boat before getting sick was not mentioned by the authorities.

    In Arkansas this week, A couple was charged with the murder of one of their four young children after the child was left inside a hot car and died as a result.

    Following the death of their 2-year-old child, Little Rock prosecutors charged Deja and Justin Rollins with murder on Monday. They entered a not guilty plea.

    One of the couple's children was receiving emergency medical care at Arkansas Children's Hospital when police were called in response to an allegation of suspected child abuse on Sunday afternoon, according to officials. Hospital security discovered that the couple was driving a car in the parking lot with four other children, ages two, four, seven, and 10. The 2-year-old died the following day, according to authorities, after the kids were taken inside for treatment.
