Firefighters battle 2-alarm scrapyard fire in Peabody
PEABODY, MASS. (WHDH) - Firefighters battled a two-alarm scrapyard fire in Peabody Tuesday night. As of 10:30 p.m., crews were using a deck gun to spray water onto the rampant flames at the yard on Corwin Street. Peabody fire crews on scene warned those nearby about the possibility of explosions from the vehicles piled on one another.

BOSTON – A Massachusetts man has been sentenced in federal court in Boston for cocaine related offenses. According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, 55-year-old Francisco Restrepo Mesa of Revere was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper to 68 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release. In April 2024, Restrepo pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute and to possess with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Trooper Moriarty watched a white Nissan Altima pass his cruiser toward Neponset Circle. Trooper Moriarty ran the vehicle’s license plate which revealed the vehicle had no inspection sticker and the registered owner to have an active warrant for his arrest.
