The Cobb County Water System reported an estimated 310 gallon wastewater sewer overflow occurred on June 30.

The overflow, resulting from inflow, occurred at 2650 Gordy Parkway NE in Marietta and discharged into a tributary to Rubes Creek.

The Water System was notified of the overflow on June 30 at 8:40 p.m. and the overflow was stopped on June 30 at 11:15 p.m.

Water System employees upon arrival observed a manhole spilling with the lid secured. The escaping sewage left a 390-foot by 20-foot trail and entered a storm drain, which discharges into the creek. The crew discovered the cause was due to discharge from the Mountain View Aquatic Center. The crew informed the center to cease the discharge, which stopped the overflow. After the inflow ceased, the crew walked the creek and did not observe any fish kills.
