Greater Community Church of God in Christ, in coordination with Cobb County Health Department and Wellstar Health Systems, is sponsoring several events this weekend to demonstrate their commitment to the community. The church is calling this effort: “Health and Wellness Weekend.”

The program consists of a health fair and a blood drive. All events will be held at the church.

On Saturday, July 27, the church will host a health fair to distribute information about health-related topics including diabetes, high blood pressure, heart health and more. Representatives will be on hand to perform screenings for these diseases and to provide low-cost sports physicals for returning school-age children. The Health Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“Greater Community Church is a wholistic ministry that is concerned about our entire community. Our annual Health and Wellness Weekend demonstrates our commitment to the whole man: mind, body and soul,” said Bishop Matthew L. Brown, Senior Pastor of Greater Community Church.

In addition, there will be a Family Fun Day planned on Saturday with food, arts and crafts, live music and more.

Greater Community Church will also sponsor a Red Cross Blood Drive on Sunday, July 28 in the fellowship hall of the church. The event is entitled, “Bloody Sunday.” The Red Cross estimates that every pint of blood donated can save up to three lives. The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Greater Community Church is located at 406 Roswell Street, Marietta, 30060. For more information, call the church office at 770-590-8510 or visit www.greatercommunitycogic.org.
