Marine Carousel Closed Until Further Notice
MARINE — The Marine Village Board met early on July 3 at 4 pm in recognition of the July 4th holiday. During public comment, Lynn Scherer said the bat house for the lake is ready to be installed on a pole made from an oak tree that died in the Lake Park. John Molitor informed the board that the stop signs and poles need to be replaced at Marion and Nebraska Streets due to being faded. Mayor Kelly Tracy reminds residents that when approaching an intersection with no stop signs, it is a yield in all directions.
Troy project among biggest in county
One of the biggest new economic development projects involving Madison County’s effort to attract such growth, Unitech Precision Gauge, located at 7600 Commercial Drive in Troy, has progressed to the point that employee hiring has begun for the site as reported to the county board grants committee which met earlier this month.
Edwardsville to soon welcome ‘all things pickleball’
What has been deemed as America’s fastest growing sport is headed to Edwardsville, and in a big way. SmashHouse, a premier pickleball tournament facility, is coming to the southeast corner of the new 95-acre Park North commercial development located at the Interstate 55 and IL-143 interchange. Park North is just north of and adjacent to the Plummer Family Park and will include other sports and family attractions as well as new lodging facilities and other ancillary visitor services.

Triad BOE approves multiple projects during monthly meeting
TROY — The Triad CUSD #2 Board of Education approved multiple improvement projects throughout the district durings its regular monthly meeting held in June. The board first approved the purchase and installation of an intercom system through Tech Electronics at $91,877 for Silver Creek Elementary School. Superintendent Jason Henderson explained that the current intercom and bell system at Silver Creek was outdated and not functioning well as he explained what the new system will allow the school to do.

East-West Gateway Council of Governments (EWG) seeks comment on amendments to Connected2050, the St. Louis Region’s long-range transportation plan, including the FY 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) and related Air Quality Conformity Document. The comment period will also satisfy Madison County Transit District’s and Metro’s public hearing and program of projects requirement of the Federal Transit Administration Sections 5307, 5309, 5310, 5337, and 5339 programs in the St. Louis Region. The public comment period begins Friday, 6/28/24, and ends Thursday, 8/1/24. The documents, comment forms, and a summary of the documents will be available on EWG’s website at www. ewgateway.org. Throughout the comment period, EWG staff will answer questions on the documents. Comments or questions must be received or postmarked by midnight, Thursday, 8/1/24. All Mascoutah School District Students to Receive Library Cards through Grant
In an initiative to provide a wider array of educational resources for students, the Mascoutah School District 19 (MSD19) has partnered with the Mascoutah Public Library to ensure every student who attends the school district, whether residing in the district or not, has access to a library card.
