WRIGHTSTOWN, Wis. — The Marinette High School track and field team competed in a North Eastern Conference pentangular at Wrightstown on Tuesday.

On a blustery day (the pole vault was canceled due to high winds) in which athletes competed in intermittent rain, the Marine boys finished fourth while the Marinette girls were fifth with competition from Wrightstown, Fox Valley Lutheran, Little Chute and Waupaca.

FVL topped the girls competition with 140 points while Little Chute won the boys competition with the same score.

The Marine boys got wins from Jackson Draheim in the 400m run and Caden Genrich in the shot put while the Marine sprinters continued to perform well.

Despite less than ideal conditions, Draheim produced a personal record in the 400m at 52.26 seconds, 1.7 seconds faster than runner up Tyler Hietpas from Little Chute.

Genrich easily cleared the field in the shot put with a personal record heave of 45 ‘06, nearly four feet further than runner up Owen Butckovich from Little Chute.

Marinette’s Frankie Marquardt was third at 38 ‘06.

Genrich was the runner-up in the discus at 122 ‘01, while Marquardt was fifth at 104’ 07.

Meanwhile in the sprints, Elijah Wimbush was fifth in the 100m dash at 11.85 seconds.

Mason Hofherr, fresh off a 100m win in last week’s Purple Power Invitational, crossed the line third in the 200m with a PR of 23.50 seconds, just 0.56 seconds off the pace set by Fox Valley Lutheran’s David Schumacher.

Hofherr teamed with Braxton Polzin, Nicholas Hruska and Max Jacobson in the 4x200m relay and finished second with a time of 1:40.72.

Draheim, along with Hruska, Jacobson and Hunter Schneider carried the baton in the 4x400m relay, placing fourth at 3:55.84.

Schneider and Evan Reines placed fourth and fifth respectively in the 800m run. Schneider crossed the line at 2:26.74 with Reines on his heels at 2:27.21.

The Marine girls got top-five individual finishes from Addison Lacy, Madison Kunick and Jaydn Sherwood.

Lacy took third in the mile with a time of 6:09.99 and fifth in the 400m at 1:10.37.

Kunick was third in the 800m run with a time of 2:48.14, and Sherwood placed fifth in the discus with a toss of 83 ‘07.

Lacy and Kunick also teamed with Lauren Sadowski and Hazel Knutson for a runner-up time of 4:53.90 in the 4x400m relay.

Nat Poquette backed Sherwood in the discus with a toss of 78 ‘06, good for seventh place.

Poquette and Sherwood placed sixth and ninth respectively in the shot put at 27’8 and 26’11.

Bailey Krouth finished seventh in the 400m at 1:14.98, and Keirsten Kabacinski was tenth in the 100m dash with a time of 14.37 seconds.
