IUP GRAD, HOMER CITY NATIVE HIRED TO AUDITOR GENERAL’S OFFICE THROUGH INTERN-TO-HIRE PROGRAM
Pennsylvania Auditor General Timothy DeFoor announced a Homer City native and IUP Graduate has secured a position in his office through the Intern-to-Hire program. Mallory Galinac graduated from IUP in August of 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and earned a master’s degree in business administration in May. She was a participant in the program that allowed her to have an internship with the auditor general’s office and gives her and others a path to full-time employment with the office.

GREENSTEIN TO STEP DOWN AS PASSHE CHANCELLOR
State System of Higher Education Chancellor Dan Greenstein has informed the Board of Governors that he will step down in October. In an open letter on his blog, Greenstein said he plans on pursuing a national opportunity in higher education. While he didn’t go into detail what that role would be, he did say that students across the nation are “in danger of being left further behind,” which is why he took the opportunity to work at the national level seriously.

A company with asphalt paving plants in 12 locations including the Homer City area shared the spotlight with Gov. Josh Shapiro and Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Michael S. Regan as they announced a grant of more than $396 million for the Reducing Industrial Sector Emissions in Pennsylvania or RISE PA project.
Melissa Jacobsen to be next Homer City Manager
Melissa Jacobsen is officially stepping into the city manager position. This follows a months-long process to hire a new manager after the Homer City Council terminated its contract with Rob Dumouchel. The council reviewed the contract during a closed, executive session at a special meeting on July 17. They approved it by a resolution at their July 22 meeting.
