    Above and beyond: Here are Marlboro's scholar athletes for 2023-24

    The Mid-Hudson Athletic League recently honored its top senior student-athletes for each high school. Marlboro High School selected Kalista Birkenstock and Alex McAteer.

    Here are their profiles:

    Kalista Birkenstock

    GPA: 99.8

    Class Rank: 8

    Varsity Sports: Volleyball; Basketball; Softball

    Academic Honors/Extracurricular Activities: National Honor Society; Spanish Honor Society

    Athletic Honors: Team Captain for Volleyball and Softball; All-State 1st Team; Section Champion; Regional Champion; State Finalist; First Team Poughkeepsie Journal All-Star; First Team Record All-Star; Section IX Class B Player of the Year

    Community Service: JDRF Fundraiser in honor of my father, James T. Birkenstock, hosting two tournaments at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome and raised nearly $1,000 for JDRF each year

    Future Plans: Florida Gulf Coast University, to major in Civil Engineering and play Softball
