Parents of autistic students push Madison schools to install fences
With no fencing at her 5-year-old’s elementary school, Signe Mbainai often worries about her son when he heads off to study math and learn how to speak, read and write. Her son, Aristide, is autistic and known to unexpectedly wander off, a behavior called "elopement" among people with disabilities. When he was a kindergartner at Anana Elementary on Madison’s west side, Aristide ran away from school 29 times, Mbainai said.

Madison College: New Board of Trustees appointed
Ann McNeary and Tonya Olson were recently appointed to the Madison College Board of Trustees, serving terms from July 1, 2024-June 30, 2027. McNeary, a Sun Prairie resident, is the AFL-CIO Community Services Liaison at the United Way of Dane County and an Enterprise IT Specialist with Dane County Information Management. She is the current Secretary of the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin, is a charter member of the Sun Prairie Area Chorus, chairs the AFL-CIO State Community Service Committee, and is the Chair of the CWA Political Council. McNeary earned an associate degree in data processing and computer programming from Madison College and a bachelor of science in business from Edgewood College. McNeary will be serve as an Employee Member of the Madison College Board of Trustees.
