Super Bowl loss should fuel Marshfield football: 2024 Rams schedule

The Marshfield High football team came tantalizingly close to winning a state championship last fall.

Seeded third in the Division 2 tournament, the Rams road a devastating offensive attack to three playoff wins. They beat No. 14 Plymouth North, 56-34, in the Round of 16, clobbered No. 6 Bishop Feehan, 51-24, in the quarterfinals and then upset No. 2 Catholic Memorial, 52-40, in the semifinals.

Marshfield's run ended at Gillette Stadium as the Rams could not keep up with No. 2 King Philip in a 42-14 loss in the Div. 2 Super Bowl.

The Rams hope that was just a starting point, and with returning stars such as rising senior quarterback Tor Maas (19 TD passes, 7 TD runs, 2,500-plus yards of total offense) and rising senior running back Davin True (1,179 rushing yards, 24 total TDs), Marshfield should be a strong contender again this fall.

"We have a lot of guys coming back," Maas said after the Super Bowl loss. "Unfinished business. We have to come back stronger next year and finish."
