I recently had the pleasure of dining at MaLa Canteen, a modern Chinese restaurant with a unique twist. The first thing that caught my eye was the decor - a cool, contemporary vibe with a faux bakery section that added a charming touch. The food was a delightful surprise, with dishes that were generously portioned and bursting with flavor. The freshness of the brain flower dish was impressive, and the grilled pig's trotters were a standout.
The skewers were a hit, especially when paired with the spicy mix, which I found needed a bit more sesame sauce for that extra kick. The popcorn chicken and fried rice were also delicious, while the eggplant with noodles was decent. The tinfoil BBQ sections were a fun addition, and the Mala Tang was satisfactory. But the real star of the show was the dry pot - it was so good, it could easily compete with the best in NYC.
Despite a minor hiccup with the service during one visit, my overall experience at MaLa Canteen was positive. The staff were prompt and attentive during my subsequent visit, which greatly improved my dining experience. If you're looking for a chill place to enjoy a good meal, I would definitely recommend MaLa Canteen. Just remember to bring your appetite, because you're in for a treat!
