EVERETT July 1: The Port of Everett’s free outdoor movie series, Sail-in Cinema, offering family-friendly movies starts July 26 at Boxcar Park. This is the 9th Annual Sail-in Cinema event hosted by the Port of Everett and takes place every Friday night from July 26 through Aug. 30. Dulceria El Chavito: Tasty Latin treats at a hidden Lynnwood gem
Dulceria El Chavito is a tiny, vibrant, fun and very, very hidden gem in the heart of Lynnwood. The shop is lined wall-to-wall with Latin candy, snacks, drinks and uniquely delightful piñatas. Those are the shop’s specialty, says owner Nicky Monroy. The 30-year-old Monroy spends her days at her full-time job as a medical assistant and her evenings at the store. Her partner Eddie Lopez holds down the fort during the day.
Pokémon card masters invited to friendly duel at Lynnwood’s Around the Table July 2
The first Tuesday of every month is an official Pokémon Tournament at Around the Table gaming pub in Lynnwood, with the next one set for July 2. The event is open to trading card gamers of all ages with occasional free raffles on event night. The loot up for grabs includes promo cards, posters, buttons, playmats, the occasional ice cream and some custom items from independent artists. All participants will be given at least two booster packs as a prize.
Local gardeners celebrate progress of Scriber Creek restoration
Several volunteers from the Scriber Creek restoration project and members of the Edmonds Floretum Garden Club, Lynnwood’s Alderwood Garden Club and Woodinville’s Cottage Gardeners Garden Club gathered in the rain Thursday to witness the fruits of their efforts in planting native plants along Scriber Creek. Since Nov. 4, many of the native seedlings have sprouted to become saplings over a fresh layer of mulch. However, there are still many invasive reed canary grass and English ivy coating the creek bed.
