HARRISON COUNTY, Ind. — A man was arrested after officials pulled a truck from a river on Friday.

According to a press release, first responders were dispatched to a boat ramp in Mauckport on a report of a submerged vehicle. When state troopers and other officials arrived, they located an F-150 pickup truck that was mostly submerged in the Ohio River.

ISP indicated the driver of the truck appeared to have backed too far down the boat ramp. Police identified the truck’s driver as 61-year-old James Schuppert of Mauckport.

Per a release, police that responded to the scene were familiar with Schuppert and knew he had an active arrest warrant.

An ISP scuba diver, with assistance from A-1 towing, helped recover Schuppert and the vehicle from the river. Once police got Schuppert back on land, he was detained and transported to the Harrison County Jail.

Schuppert has been preliminarily charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.

The most serious of the charges Schuppert faces is manufacturing methamphetamine — a Level 4 Felony. The maximum penalty for such a crime in Indiana is a 12-year prison sentence and a fine of up to $10,000.

As of this article’s publication, no additional information on Schuppert or the incident had been made available.
