Steve Doocy Interrupts Fox & Friends Broadcast to Dad His Son Peter: ‘I Just Got a Text Message from Your Mother…’

Move over, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz — there is Big Dad Energy on cable news.

Fox’s Steve Doocy briefly took off his Fox & Friends co-host hat to check in with his son, Fox senior White House correspondent Peter Doocy , when the latter seemed to have a frog in his throat while filing a report on the presidential race on Monday. The phlegmmy moment prompted a text from one Kathy Doocy , wife of Steve and mother of Peter.

After reporting on the respective campaign schedules of Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump , the younger Doocy had to clear his throat. When he threw back to Steve Doocy in the studio, Dad responded: “Peter, I just got a text message from your mother. Do you have a cold?”

The younger Doocy insisted, “No! I think I just had something in my throat! I’m good, Mom, thank you.”

Doocy also discussed the news that Trump hinted that he might back out of the September 10 debate against Harris, but also Harris’s promise to sit for a one-on-one press interview. Doocy granted his own interview with New York Magazine recently to talk about his coverage of the Democratic National Convention and President Joe Biden’s administration. He also scored an extremely brief interview with Harris as she went to formally accept her nomination at the DNC, which probably does not qualify as the sit-down interview folks are looking for. (Technically they were both physically standing.)
