What Caused This Massive Sinkhole to Reappear in the Middle of Iowa? [VIDEO]
I was scrolling through Instagram earlier this week when I noticed a funny post from the Iowa Chill Instagram page. At first I wasn't sure if this was a joke or maybe some kind of altered photo but I discovered that this sinkhole photo is 100% legit. If I remember correctly, this sinkhole has been seen in this location in previous years but it was filled and repaired.
Marion County Fair Kicks Off Friday
The annual Marion County Fair will kick off Friday in Knoxville and last until July 18th. This year’s fair theme is “Barn in the USA” and it will be filled with livestock on display, livestock shows, 4-H projects on display at Dyer Hudson Hall from members of all area clubs, contests, games, daytime and evening entertainment, and more. This year’s evening entertainment lineup includes Cooper Alan in concert on Friday night, sprint car races on Saturday, a rodeo on Sunday, Impact Pro Wrestling on Monday the 18th, and a demo derby on Tuesday the 19th. There will also be plenty of food and activities for all ages at the fair.
'Saved a lot of lives': Warren County dog rescue closing its doors
PROLE, Iowa — An animal shelter in Warren County is closing its doors. The Second Chance Dog Rescue in Prole says it does not have enough volunteers or funds to properly care for the animals. It says it is working to get all the dogs into foster homes or adopted.

Iowa Realty is holding a “Fill Randy’s Truck” Marion County Humane Society supply drive and pet meet and greet today at the Knoxville Farmers Market. The Marion County Humane Society provides shelter and care for homeless dogs and cats in the community, and they are currently at capacity and in need of a variety of supplies and funds for medical care for the animals at the shelter. To help meet this need, for the second year, the Realtors at Iowa Realty will be leading the effort to fill the truck with donations for the humane society at the farmers market on the Knoxville square from 8:00am-11:00am. The humane society will also bring some adoptable pets for the public to meet.
New Veterans District Senior Housing Project in Knoxville Moving Forward After Securing Federal Housing Tax Credits
A new senior housing project in Knoxville’s Veterans District is moving forward after securing federal housing tax credits from the Iowa Finance Authority. The “Residence at Veterans Park” housing project, which will be located on the south side of West Pleasant St., will consist of 48 rental units for seniors. The project by Overland Group LLC. will help with the current shortage of housing in the Knoxville community. These federal housing tax credits were given to ten rental housing projects throughout the state. Knoxville City Manager Heather Ussery says this development will help with a housing shortage.
Indianola City Council Discusses Willowcrest
The Indianola City Council discussed the expansion of the Willowcrest area at their work session Monday, which is still in early development. City Manager Ben Reeves tells KNIA News the city and council wanted to look at how best to go about developing one of the most likely areas of expansion for the city, while also taking advantage of current amenities such as the Summerset Trail.
