No Summer Break for Belmont Educators

NSCC Offering Free Machinist Training Program at Essex Tech
This week North Shore Community College (NSCC) in Danvers unveiled a new funded program that offers free advanced manufacturing training and eduction for local residents. The program is designed to respond to the increased, unmet demand for skilled workers in the region. Job placement rates directly from the program have been over 80% with starting hourly wages for machinists of $22 - $25, and annual salaries ranging from $32,000 - $50,000+.

Lynnfield committee appoints Geary as superintendent

School Committee approves various agenda items
Monday’s School Committee meeting saw the committee approve a number of agenda items. The committee voted 4-0 in favor of increasing hourly wages for cafeteria workers by $3 to $5 per hour. Chair Jenn Schaeffner explained that doing so is good for job retention and said the committee is able to vote on this issue because the cafeteria workers are no longer unionized.
