MEMPHIS – We all knew it was a longshot.

But Tuesday, that longshot went to no shot. Caleb Mills has played his final game as a Memphis Tiger.

Penny Hardaway announced last month that the university had applied for a medical hardship waiver in hopes of getting Mills one more season in the blue and gray. But that waiver was denied, as was a subsequent appeal ending Mills’ Tiger career after just 14 games.

Mills, who played two years at Houston and two at Florida State before transferring to Memphis, went down with a devastating knee injury against Tulsa in early January.

The Tigers went 10-and-8 without mills including one and done in the AAC Tournament, missing out on a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
