Grind City Brewery 4th of July celebration underway

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphians are bracing against searing heat to celebrate the return of fireworks Downtown this Fourth of July.

Music, food, and fun are all happening at Grind City Brewery on Thursday leading up to the big fireworks show tonight.

“I’ve lived downtown for awhile and another year of downtown fireworks was kinda sad but then as soon as we offered the city was right behind us,” Hopper Seely, president. “Since there haven’t been fireworks up here there are a bunch of laws about where you can shoot them and what’s next to it.”

One by one bright colors rise from the green grass. Bounce houses are just one of the options for families while at the celebration.

“We are expecting 1000 people but we can fit significantly more people on our 2 acres of green space,” Seely said. “Today [Thursday] we brought a sprinkler so we will have a free water fill station and of course sell beverages.”

Fireworks will pop off when it is a little cooler but if you need a break from the heat sooner Seely says, “We opened the back of our brewery today [Thursday]. If you are outside and you need a little break you can come inside.”

Inside or outside, the celebration downtown is underway. “Bring the kids it’s going to be a fun night,” Seely said.

There is also a clear bag-only policy. You can bring a picnic blanket, chairs, and refillable water bottles.
