Zach Edey Fires Blunt Warning To NBA Trash Talkers

The Memphis Grizzlies made easy work of the Sacramento Kings on Friday in what turned out to be a lopsided Summer League matchup. What makes their 103-83 win even more impressive is the fact that No. 9 overall pick Zach Edey was not even available for the game as the highly-touted rookie continues to nurse a sore ankle.

Edey came out to support his team and he was an avid spectator from the bench all game long. Clearly, the 22-year-old would much rather be on the court playing as opposed to being in street clothes.

When he's out there, Edey becomes a target for the opposition. Not only is this because he's a rookie trying to prove that he belongs but also because it's hard to miss a 7-foot-4 giant on the basketball court.

Edey is having none of that, though. The former Purdue star recently sent a blunt warning to anyone and everyone who even thinks about messing with him on the court:

“That’s how I play,” Edey said, via Drew Hill of the Daily Memphian. “My emotions come out from competing. I’m never going to be the one to start the trash talk or initiate something, but if something is happening on the court that I don’t appreciate, I will let my presence be felt .”

It's not as if Edey is going to actively look for a fight against his opponents during games. However, he's made it abundantly clear that he's not going to take any nonsense from anybody.
