Memphis Tigers Football Picked to Win AAC in Preseason Media Poll

DALLAS, Texas – Coming off a 10-win season that saw the Tigers defeat Iowa State in the 2023 AutoZone Liberty Bowl, Memphis was picked to win The American in the 2024 AAC Preseason Media Poll, the conference announced Tuesday. Full coverage on 92.9 FM ESPN.

Memphis totaled the most points in the preseason poll with 409 in addition to having the most first-place votes (23). Picked to finish runner up was UTSA with 368 points and four first-place votes. The Tulane Green Wave were tabbed third in the preseason poll with 362 points and a pair of first-place votes. South Florida was picked to finish fourth with 339 points while AAC-newcomer Army received a first-place vote and 236 total points to come in fifth.

The Tigers are coming off the fourth 10-win season in program history and return a wealth of experience on both sides of the football. Key returners include fourth-year starting quarterback Seth Henigan , three of the Tigers’ four leading wide receivers from a year ago in Roc Taylor , Demeer Blankumsee and Koby Drake, tight end Anthony Landphere , running back and kick returner Sutton Smith , offensive linemen Xavier Hill and Jonah Gambill , Phil Steele Preseason All-American linebacker Chandler Martin and defensive back Greg Rubin. Including the aforementioned student-athletes, Memphis had 15 players named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-AAC Team.
