MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man accused of terrorizing his ex-girlfriend and her family for months was booked in the Shelby County jail Wednesday on nearly a dozen charges in at least six different incidents.

Jakeel Perkins, 28, is facing charges of criminal attempted second-degree murder, reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon, using a firearm to commit a felony, aggravated assault, aggravated burglary, vandalism, domestic assault, and being a felon in possession of a handgun.

The mother of Perkins’s ex-girlfriend said Perkins has been angry with her family ever since her daughter broke up with him. She said on July 9, she saw Perkins standing outside her house right before someone fired six shots into the residence.

No one inside the home was hurt, but the mother told officers Perkins had shot her son about a week earlier.

Police said on June 29, a man, later identified as Perkins, fired one shot through the front door of the home in the 2600 block of Fizer Avenue, hitting a male in the upper right thigh. Perkins was picked out of a photo lineup by a witness and charged with attempted second-degree murder in that case.

Perkins is also accused of breaking into the family’s home multiple times and assaulting his ex.

In March, Perkins was released from jail on a $1,500 bond after allegedly breaking down the ex-girlfriend’s front door. A warrant was later issued for his arrest.

Perkins is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
