We have a clean sheet of paper to design public schools that work for Milwaukee | Letters
In his commentary, Alan Borsuk reminded us to “never let a crisis go to waste” (“MPS faces challenges as district moves on,” June 9). I think we are as close as we will ever be to a clean sheet of paper to design a new public school system. Now would be a good time for state legislators who have been trying for so long to break up Milwaukee Public Schools to spell out their plan, to be evaluated. Now would be a good time to stand back and assess what we’ve learned from 30 years of charter, voucher, and choice schools that could be applied more widely.

Legislative Republicans say audit bureau is looking at Milwaukee Schools
Milwaukee Public Schools could face another audit as Legislative Republicans say they plan to get involved with the district’s current financial scandal. Republicans have asked the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau to conduct an audit of MPS. This comes as Gov. Tony Evers has called for an operational audit to review the district’s processes and procedures as well as an audit to analyze the district’s instructional policies and methodologies.
School satisfaction drops across Wisconsin in latest Marquette poll
(The Center Square) – People across Wisconsin are losing faith in their community’s public schools. The latest Marquette Law School Poll shows school satisfaction fell in all parts of the state, but Milwaukee saw the largest drop. “Satisfaction with public schools has declined from the previous measure [last year]. In November 2023, 12% were very satisfied, 51% were satisfied, 25% were dissatisfied, and 10% were very dissatisfied,” the poll noted....

Students can earn 60 credits at Moraine Park tech college, start as UW-Milwaukee juniors
College students who earn two-year degrees in certain programs at Moraine Park Technical College can transfer 60 credits, or half of a four-year degree, to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee under a new articulation agreement between the two schools.
