Three people were arrested Saturday when police searched a mixed-use building in Meriden where after-hours parties allegedly occurred and have led to multiple violent crimes.

Officers served a search warrant at 190 Grove St. around 2:45 a.m. in search of evidence from a recent assault, according to the Meriden Police Department .

During the search, which was carried out by patrol officers, detectives, the Neighborhood Initiative Unit and Connecticut State Police, authorities reported finding evidence of alcohol being sold.

Police arrested 38-year-old Stephen Jenkins and 26-year-old Alyssa Clausell, charging them each with interfering with police during the search.

On the second floor, authorities found a firearm hidden in a couch and arrested 41-year-old Raphael Jacobs, who police said is a previously convicted felon. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and was released after posting $500,000 bond.

Jacobs is expected to appear in Meriden Superior Court on July 29.

Police said they expect to make additional arrests in connection with their investigation.

According to police, after-hours parties are often hosted at the building. City property records indicate the mixed-use structure has commercial space on the first floor and a residential area on the second.

Police said the property has been associated with “a number of assaults, shootings, stabbings and a murder.” Many of these issues stemmed from the parties that are hosted on the second floor, according to police.
