MERIDEN, Conn. (WTNH) — A woman has been charged in connection to the homicide of a woman shot dead near the Meriden Green Monday night, according to police.

Myriah Farrar, 32, of Meriden, was charged with second-degree assault and second-degree conspiracy to commit assault in the death of 28-year-old Meriden resident Beth Ndwiga.

Farrar was arrested Tuesday and originally held on a $750,000 bond. After an arraignment this week, her bond was reduced to $250,000, according to court records.

Police said Farrar was detained and escorted to the police station Tuesday after blocking off a section of West Main Street and making entry into a connected apartment there.

Investigators believe Farrar got into a confrontation with Ndwiga while accompanied by a man. Police said they believe the man attempted to intervene when he pulled a gun out. They said Farrar was stabbed with a knife prior to Ndwiga’s death.

The investigation is ongoing, and police said they are working on several “strong leads” regarding the male suspect.

Police said they were called to State Street around 10:10 p.m. for a report of a dispute and shots fired on Monday. Ndwiga was pronounced deceased on scene.

Farrar is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Aug. 14.
