Holmes accepts Assistant Principal position at Midtown
MADISON – Midtown Elementary School’s administrative staff has increased with Nathan Holmes’ accepting the position of Assistant Principal. “I love Madison City! This is where my family and I call home,” Holmes said. The Holmes children’s school path includes Heritage Elementary School, Liberty Middle School and James Clemens High School.

AAMU Child Development Center Now Accepting Applications for 2024-25 School Year. The Alabama A&M University Child Development Center is now accepting applications for the 2024-25 academic year, with enrollment available for both fall and spring semesters. Registration will start in person on Tuesday, July 16, beginning at 7:00 a.m. in Carver Complex B, Hobson Wing, Room 116 and continue until all spots are filled. Applications are open to the general public for children aged 2 to 4 years old.
Nedjra Russell named Administrator of West Madison Pre-Kindergarten Center
MADISON – People sometimes experience a full circle with their career’s jobs. Nedjra Russell has met one example of this career path. Recently, Madison Board of Education selected Russell as Administrator of West Madison Pre-Kindergarten Center. Early in her career, one of Russell’s first jobs was working for the Child Development Center on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, east of Dayton, Ohio.
Tosha Swearingen now serving as Rainbow Assistant Principal
MADISON – Tosha Swearingen has accepted the position of Assistant Principal at Rainbow Elementary School. In 2010, Swearingen started teaching first-graders at Columbia Elementary School. Transferring to Mill Creek Elementary School, she taught kindergartners. Next, Swearingen served as Instructional Partner. For the last two years, she worked as the district’s Elementary Instructional Specialist with heavy focus on reading instruction.

The Class 7A School has been busy attempting to fulfill two head coach vacancies within the school’s basketball program. Gone are Jamie Coggins, after 12 seasons as head coach of the boys, and Jarvis Wilson, who vacated the position as head coach of the girls team after just three years.
