A man convicted of killing a delivery driver who stopped for cash at an ATM to take his wife to dinner is scheduled for execution Thursday night in Alabama. Keith Edmund Gavin, 64, is set to receive a lethal injection at a prison in southwest Alabama. He was convicted of capital murder in the shooting death of William Clayton Jr. in Cherokee County. Looking down from an air-conditioned suite on a recent afternoon, it’s easy to see the potential for concerts at Wicks Family Field at Joe Davis Stadium. There’s 6,000 or so seats in this former minor league baseball stadium, where major league stars like Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco got their start, which was rebooted as an attractive minor league soccer pitch last year.
