Lovely September weather continues in much of the Eastern US with no rain until the weekend

It is middle of the week and we are in the middle of high pressure that is sitting over New England to Delaware. Satellite and radar loops are nice and quiet once again and after bottoming this morning in the 50s and 40s, we are headed to the middle and upper 70s this afternoon. This is going to be another day of lots of sunshine from New England to the Middle Atlantic with no rain issues. Skies will be nice and clear tonight with lows in the 50s inland, 40s in cool spots and upper 50s and lower 60s in warmer urban locations and along the coast.

This large high will be exiting to the east near Cape Cod. This means that the flow will become onshore Thursday and Friday. There is so much dry air around that it is going to take a couple of days for Atlantic moisture to overwhelm the area with clouds. That won't happen until Friday night into Saturday. At that point a cold front will be swinging eastward as a deep upper trough drops into the upper Great Lakes. This weather front is going to pick up some Gulf of Mexico moisture but most of that will get ejected to the east with a developing low offshore. That leaves us with the cold front and showery rains for Saturday into Saturday night. As long as the front keeps on moving which appears to be the case, Sunday could turn out to be a much better days with clouds giving way to sunshine.

Before we get to Saturday we have Thursday and Friday. Thursday should be partly to mostly sunny with an east wind. That should keep areawide temperatures mostly in the 70s. Friday will be partly sunny as there may be a few clouds to deal with overnight into Friday morning. Friday highs also will be in the 70s thanks to the ocean wind.

Clouds will likely roll in Friday night and then we get into showery rains for Saturday into Saturday night. There might be a thunderstorm or two in the mix but no severe weather is forecast. Rainfall amounts will probably be in the half to three quarters of a inch range. Temperatures Saturday will be mostly in the 70s with high humidity. Once the front passes we see decreasing clouds and increasing sun for Sunday. High temperatures will be in the cooler lower 70s in most places. Next week is looking to start off cool and dry. The tropics remain quiet and tropical storm development is not expect anytime soon.
