Scissors-Wielding Woman Arrested for Burger King Parking Lot Robbery

Miami-Dade, FL - Police arrested a woman who used scissors to rob an elderly man outside a South Florida Burger King, then chased and injured the man before being arrested.

Authorities say 29-year-old woman Hali Linnette Vega is facing armed robbery charges after allegedly threatening an elderly man with scissors and stealing his belongings early Wednesday morning.

According to Miami-Dade police, the incident occurred around 2:34 am at a Burger King located at 15170 SW 72nd St. in the West Lake Shopping Center.

The victim reported being woken up by Vega, who was holding scissors and demanding money.

Following the robbery, the victim fled the vehicle on foot.

However, Vega reportedly pursued him and shoved him to the ground, causing minor injuries.

A bystander witnessed the altercation and alerted the police.

Officers located Vega nearby, asleep in her car, and apprehended her.

The victim positively identified Vega at the scene.

Police have not disclosed what was stolen during the robbery, and details regarding the victim's age and condition remain unavailable.

Authorities also revealed that Vega refused to cooperate with detectives after her arrest.

Currently, her bond information is withheld due to an outstanding warrant connected to a separate child neglect charge.
