A man was shot and killed on the street Monday in Liberty City, according to Miami police.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers arrived to find 20-year-old Treyshawn Wright lying on the road with multiple gunshot wounds along NW 7th Avenue and 58th Street, said Officer Kiara Delva, a Miami police department spokeswoman.

City of Miami Fire Rescue paramedics declared Wright dead at the scene, Delva said.

He was lying next to a black SUV with a gun by his side.

Delva told reporters during a media briefing that it’s not immediately clear whether it was his gun or belonged to the person or people who shot him.

Detectives are also trying to determine if Wright was shot while inside the SUV or standing outside the car, Delva added. Detectives aren’t yet sure if the person or people who shot him were in a car or on foot, said Delva.

Detectives were canvassing the area Monday afternoon looking for potential witnesses and searching for security cameras in the area that may have recorded footage of the shooting. They’re urging anyone with information about the shooting to call police.

“More than anything, we need the community’s support,” Devla said. “Obviously, the suspect or suspects involved are quite brazen, as they did this in broad daylight.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471 8477 (TIPS)
