When you're on a mission for chili oil, frozen dumplings, hamburger-shaped cookies, and a paralyzing selection of potato chip flavors, then you're in need of a trip to an Asian market. We have some great ones in Miami (and multiple options on the excellent food street of NE 163rd St. ). These shops sell a broad selection of food and pantry items from Japan, China, Korea, and beyond. Some are the size of a warehouse and others have aisles you'll have to squeeze through sideways—but they should all be on your radar next time your shumai supply runs low.

    Asian-Mart

Asian-Mart on Calle Ocho serves all the things you’d expect at a great Asian market: snacks, candy, dumplings, noodles, soju, homemade kimchi, and lots more. Asian-Mart also has an instant ramen bar—you just grab one of their options, fill it up with hot water inside the shop, and you can eat it on the go, or grab a seat in their backyard. There used to be an excellent little boba spot operating in the back of the store, but that’s been replaced by a concept selling shaved ice and ice cream.

    Chung Hing

Chung Hing is small, but the Asian market packs a serious punch with its selection—especially Chinese options. It also happens to be right next to Sang’s , one of our favorite dim sum restaurants in town, so you can plan a lunch/shopping one-two-punch. This is a good spot to get more chili oil for your pantry, lots of delicious sauces, and they even have a small produce section too. Just don’t leave here without buying some Every Burger cookies, an adorable and delicious Japanese snack that might be our favorite little cookie on the planet.

    Hanna & Tiger Asian Mart

Hanna & Tiger is a well-stocked Asian market with several locations around Miami—in Kendall, Coral Gables, and Sweetwater. If you’ve seen a trendy Asian snack or dessert while scrolling, they probably have it here (yes, they’ve got those Chinese mango ice cream pops). But you can also shop for a full meal. There are rows of frozen dumplings, thinly sliced meat for hot pot, chips, sauces, and alcohol options that range from soju to Korean rice beer. There’s also a corner display with some ready-to-eat snacks like onigiri and gyoza.

    Beijing Mart

Beijing Mart is located right next to one of Miami’s best Chinese restaurants, King Palace , on NE 163rd Street. This grocery store is mostly centered around Chinese ingredients but also stocks a solid selection of Japanese, Korean, and Southeast Asian items. They have a small but well-curated assortment of produce, including bamboo shoots, lotus root, and king mushrooms. What really sets Beijing Mart apart, though, is their Asian candies and snacks, including Thai durian-flavored sandwich cookies, Taiwanese pineapple cakes, and Japanese sweets (grab a cart because you’ll need it).

    iFresh

iFresh is a huge Asian grocery store in North Miami where you’ll find tons of frozen dumplings, snacks, and jars of various chili oils. A trip here can fill up your freezer with enough pork buns, shrimp shumai, and udon noodles for a long time (if you happen to not own a steamer, they sell those too). They also have meat, fish, and an impressive selection of produce like jujube, dragonfruit, and jackfruit. Come hungry too, because there's a vendor called Land N Sea Cajun Seafood that operates in the lobby of the building, selling really good Chinese roast meats. And on your way out, you’ll also pass Mi Tea , which makes some of the best boba in the city.

    Mango Tree Supermarket

Mango Tree Supermarket (perhaps you remember it by its old name: Foodtown) is not in Miami. It’s in Davie. But with light traffic, it’s only like a 40-minute drive and what else do you have to do? Plus, this is a very fun store to browse through and the variety here is very impressive. You’ll find tons of imported Asian foods, halal meats, and Indian specialties. Also, the shopping complex that houses this market is home to some of the best Asian restaurants in all of South Florida.
