In Game Two of their four-game road series with the Atlanta Braves, the Miami Marlins were unable to maintain a three-run lead as they fell to Atlanta 5-3. On the weekend after the trade deadline, Miami lost for the 70th time this season.

The game started well for the Marlins behind some good pitching by their starter Valente Bellozo . In his third career start, he went five innings, gave up two hits, and struck out five batters. He didn't allow a run until the fifth inning, which was an Orlando Arcia solo home run to make it a 3-1 game.

The Marlins scored three runs to start the game. Two of them were scored in the first inning, which was a two-run home run by Jonah Bride . Jake Burger hit a solo shot to increase the Marlins lead to 3-0. It was Burger's third home run in the last four games.

Afterward, when the Marlins led 3-1, the Braves put the hammer down on the Marlins bullpen, especially on Calvin Faucher . After they got a run in the sixth inning, Jorge Soler then got his first hit as a Brave in the eighth -- an RBI single to tie the game. Arcia and Marcell Ozuna followed up one RBI each, and the Marlins were unable to come back despite threatening in the top ninth inning.

Spencer Schwellenbach had a quality start. Although he gave up three runs on six hits, he went seven innings and struck out 10 batters.

This is the 60th victory for the Braves, who currently sit at the top National League wild card spot two games in front of the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, with the New York Mets in the hunt behind Arizona a half-game.

The Marlins will try to take a split in this series starting Saturday, Aug. 3 as they will send right-hand pitcher Kyle Tyler (0-4, 4.72 ERA) to the mound. He will go up against Braves rookie right-hander Grant Holmes (0-0, 2.54 ERA), who is making his second career start in the majors.
