MIDDLETOWN, Conn. (WTNH) — No, it’s not your eyes — there is an escaped iguana prowling around Middletown.

An iguana that escaped its enclosure in the Burgundy Hill and Westlake Drive area has been spotted at the Town Place Apartments, according to a post from Middletown Animal Control on Wednesday.

The iguana’s owner thought the scaly escape artist was inside the home, but then people started posting on Facebook about seeing it.

“This is going to sound strange but is anyone missing an iguana?” a post in What’s Happening Middletown reads. “They’re not native to CT and I just saw one running around my apartment complex…”

A woman who has identified herself as its owner said that the iguana has escaped “every enclosure we put him in” at a reptile rescue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact animal control.
