2 children trapped in car fire saved by group of workers in Delaware
WILMINGTON, DE - A Delaware family was saved from a car fire in Wilmington Monday thanks in part to the heroic actions of a group of men working near the scene. On Monday at around 7:30 p.m. the Wilmington Fire Department responded to the intersection of A Street and South Walnut Street for a report of a car fire.
Dover Man Killed in Smyrna Motorcycle Crash
SMYRNA, DE - The Delaware State Police are investigating a collision involving a motorcycle in Smyrna that claimed the life of a 54-year-old Dover man Tuesday. According to police, a Toyota Camry was driving north in the left lane of Dupont Parkway near the entrance ramp to State Route 1 just after 2 p.m. on July 2nd the same time a motorcycle was traveling in the left lane southbound. Investigators say the Camry attempted a left turn towards the entrance ramp of Route 1 at the same time the motorcycle was passing through the intersection. The car and motorcycle collided, ejecting the motorcyclist.

Troopers Arrest Woman for Stealing Vehicle from Delaware Park Casino Parking Lot
The Delaware State Police arrested 28-year-old Breana Brooks of Dover, Delaware, for stealing a Nissan from Delaware Park Casino’s parking lot on Friday afternoon. On June 28, 2024, at approximately 5:58 p.m., a trooper responded to Delaware Park Casino located at 777 Delaware Park Boulevard, Wilmington, for a report of a black Nissan Altima that was stolen from the parking lot. During the investigation, the trooper discovered an unknown black female suspect stole the victim’s car keys from her jacket while the jacket was left unattended at a slot game. The suspect then went out to the parking lot, located the matching car, and fled in the stolen Nissan. Through investigative means, the trooper identified the suspect as Breana Brooks, and obtained a warrant for her arrest.
Troopers Arrest Man for 6th Offense DUI in Newark
Delaware State Police arrested 43-year-old Ronnie Steele of Delaware City, Delaware, for a 6th offense felony DUI on Monday morning in Newark. On July 1, 2024, at approximately 8:38a.m., a trooper responded to the Lunch Box Garage, located at 2742 Pulaski Highway, Newark, for a report of a black GMC pickup truck blocking the business’ garage doors. Prior to the trooper arriving, the staff approached the truck and made contact with the male driver, who was slumped over the wheel. After staff woke up the driver, he reversed the truck away from the garage doors and fell asleep again after coming to a stop in the parking lot. Upon arriving, the trooper approached the black 2021 GMC Sierra, which was stopped in the parking lot while still in reverse, and observed a sleeping male driver, later identified as Ronnie Steele. After the trooper woke up Steele, he observed multiple signs of impairment throughout his contact with Steele. Steele refused to perform field tests and was taken into custody without incident. A computer inquiry revealed Steele had five prior DUI-related convictions.

Firefighter treated for minor injuries after 2-alarm fire at home in New Castle County
A firefighter suffered minor injuries while battling a two-alarm blaze in Wilmington, Delaware, on Tuesday.It happened just after 12:30 p.m. on the 800 block of North Lombard Street.Firefighters were called to the scene for reports of a house fire. Upon arrival, crews saw smoke coming from the roof of a two-story rowhome.The fire spread rapidly, according to police.Additional crews were called in to help fight the flames.After approximately 45 minutes, authorities say the fire was placed under control.The fire caused heavy damage to the roof and second floor of the home, as well as moderate damage to the roof of a next-door residence.As a result of the blaze, one firefighter was transported to Wilmington Hospital with minor injuries. Pickup Truck Driver Killed In Accident On I-70
Putnam County, In. – One person died and 2 other injured Friday morning in an accident mile marker 35 in Putnam County on Interstate 70. West bound traffic was slowed due to an earlier accident when a pickup truck driven by Norma Rivera, 54, of New Castle, Delaware slammed into the back of a semi driven by Bhagwant Singh, 49, of Indianapolis. Singh was slowed with the hazard lights flashing on his semi when the accident occurred. Norma Rivera was pronounced dead at the scene and two passengers in the pickup truck, an adult male and a child, were transported via air ambulance to local hospitals in Indianapolis with non-life-threatening injuries.
