Fire causes $1M in damage to commercial building near Elkton
ELKTON — An investigation is continuing after a blaze broke out in a section of a commercial building housing several businesses near Elkton on Tuesday, causing an estimated $1 million in damage, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal. State Police Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Smyrna
The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred yesterday afternoon in Smyrna that left one man dead. On July 2, 2024, at approximately 2:02 p.m., a 2017 Toyota Camry was traveling in the left turn lane on Dupont Parkway northbound at the intersection with the entrance ramp to DE State Route 1 northbound. At the same time, a 2002 Yamaha YZFR1 motorcycle was traveling in the left lane on Dupont Parkway southbound approaching the same intersection. The preliminary investigation revealed the Toyota made a left turn towards the ramp for DE SR 1 northbound at the same time the Yamaha entered the intersection. As a result, the front of the Toyota struck the front of the Yamaha, which caused the motorcyclist to be ejected.
