Coach Prime cult knows what’s coming

The Deion Sanders fans are quiet on this Sunday. Maybe the cult is at church worshiping their God or maybe they realize their hero is a false idol who makes promises he can’t keep. But wherever they are, they are silent.

The beating by Nebraska made Deion fans realize one thing — their favorite player and Hall of Fame legend isn’t a good coach. And his roster building approach is awful. Not only was Nebraska better in every way that mattered, the clear advantage that Colorado had at wide receiver and quarterback was limited. Why? Because once again Sanders didn’t address the offensive line. And true fans of Colorado and cultists of Prime are very aware now — this is a repeat of last season.

They were cocky like their idol. This was year two of Deion and he was replacing his Louis Vuitton with BETTER Louis Vuitton. This roster was much better than last year’s roster. Those close games we lost last season will be wins. And Deion, and his followers, couldn’t be more wrong.

Last season Colorado couldn’t run the football or protect the passer. As much talent as Shedeur Sanders can flash, he can’t do much when he’s running for his life and with zero run game to keep defenses off balance. The weakness of this Colorado team, same as last season, was exposed in the opener against North Dakota State and will destroy this team moving forward. Last year Colorado surprised teams until they were figured out. This year that won’t happen.

Deion isn’t smart. He’s not a good coach. A smart man and a good coach would KNOW you can’t bring in a whole new offensive line and be successful. And a smart man and a good coach would ABSOLUTELY KNOW you can’t do it two straight years. Even a 10 year old football fan knows this. But yet here we are.

The one thing Prime wants more than anything else — including wins — is for his quarterback son to be great. It was obvious last season with stat padding and continued in last week's season opener. But in typical Deion fashion as a former elite skill player, he gives no respect to the big men and the trenches where most of the dirty work is done. Instead of keeping the offensive line he inherited and coaching them up so they’d be in year two of continuity or even sticking with last year’s group, he tried to shortcut his way through the portal for the second time in a row. And as a result he’s going to hurt his own son’s development and draft stock. And he deserves everything he gets.

The Deion cult is quiet today. They know what’s coming, they saw a preview of it against a Nebraska team we will probably find out is very average. And all those receipts their hero and they are keeping will go to waste and never be used.
