Two people were injured in a head-on collision while traveling on the Highway 23 detour between Bock and Milaca on Friday, July 26.

After a hard break to avoid a traffic backup, a vehicle swerved into the oncoming traffic lane when the crash occurred.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., George Stetter, 62, of Minnesota, was traveling eastbound on 140th Street near 80th Avenue in a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado. At the same time, Terri Lynn, 52, of Willmar, was traveling westbound in the same location in a 2005 Toyota Tundra, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Toyota swerved across the centerline from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane, after a hard break to avoid a traffic backup, where the vehicle struck the Silverado head on, the State Patrol reported.

Stetter and Lynn both sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, the State Patrol reported. Lynn was transported to St. Cloud hospital for treatment. The State Patrol did not report if Stetter was transported for medical treatment or not.

Both Stetter and Lynn were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash, the State Patrol reported. No other vehicles or passengers were involved in the crash.

Road conditions were dry and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, according to the State Patrol.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office, Milaca Fire Department, and North Memorial Ambulance assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
