In 2022, MIAA realignment sent perennial contender Medfield down to Division 3. Many considered it the heavy favorite in its new home, and they weren’t entirely wrong. Medfield was the No. 1 postseason seed its first year in Division 3, but fell to Norwell in the state championship game. It promptly graduated 26 seniors; the Warriors were No. 5 in last year’s playoffs, losing in the semis — again to Norwell.
Brockton Public Schools names new principals of Baker School, Kennedy School
BROCKTON - Baker Elementary School and Kennedy Elementary School will each have new principals next school year, Brockton Public Schools announced last week. Jane Werb will take over as principal at the Baker School and Kelly Kistler will serve as principal of the Kennedy School, according to a July 11 press release from Brockton Public Schools.
Record breakers and more: South Shore High School Girls Lacrosse All-Scholastic team
For girls lacrosse on the South Shore, this season was full of record-breakers, personal bests, and scoring. Lots of scoring. Weymouth’s Megan Doyle not only broke her own season goal record, but also smashed the school’s all-time points mark, reaching 500 career points. Cardinal Spellman Junior Elle Murphy became the first in school history with 200 career goals, and South Shore Tech saw its first ever 100-career-goal-scorer in Peyton Mathisen.
WHS Class of 2024: Ryan Chao
On Friday, June 7 on the Weston Town Green, the class of 2024 crossed the stage to the cheers of family and community, gathered their diplomas and set off on their next adventure. During two months prior to their Graduation, the Weston Owl interviewed a number of the students (those who volunteered) and shared their thoughts and accomplishments here. This last Weston Owl post on the WHS Class of 2024 was submitted a few days ago by Ryan Chao and is carried in its entirety. The Owl is currently on vacation.
Standout runners, throwers and jumpers: Our Boys Outdoor Track & Field All-Scholastics
Locals made their mark in the state and beyond this spring in high school boys outdoor track. Lucas Andrade of Brockton produced the area's top finish at the New England championships, placing sixth in the 100 meters. Southeastern's Joseph Cook was seventh in the 110m hurdles at New Englands. Brockton's Jarred Mighty (8th in the 300m hurdles), Randolph's Mekhi White (10th in the 100m), Norwell's Noah Mulligan (11th in the 400m; 12th in the triple jump), Stoughton's Alex Huynh (11th in the long jump) and Marshfield's Nathan Looney (16th in the 100m) also starred there.
Appointment of Kristen Stacy as Interim Director
We are pleased to share with you that Kristen Stacy has been appointed Interim Director of Early Childhood for the 2024-25 school year, effective immediately. As you likely know, former director Rebecca Zieminski has been on leave from the position since April. She will not be returning to the role. We are grateful to ‘Becca for her 10 years of service to P.A.W.S. students and families and wish her well.

AIC Criminal Justice Program Receives Quinn Bill Approval
Springfield - American International College (AIC) announces that its Master of Science in Criminal Justice has been approved under the “Guidelines for Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement Academic Programs” by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education (BHE). Effective June 2024, this approval qualifies the fully online degree for the Police Career Incentive Pay Program (PCIPP), also known as the Quinn Bill.
