    William Brancato Wins 2024 Milltown Painting the Town Red, White and Blue 5K

    Rutherford's William Brancato was the winner of the 2024 Milltown Painting the Town Red, White and Blue 5K on July 4. Brancato finished with a winning time of 16:00.3.

    MILLTOWN, NJ - Rutherford's William Brancato crossed the finish line of the 2024 Milltown Painting the Town Red, White and Blue 5K first on Thursday with a winning time of 16:00.3. The 29-year-old was also first in the male 20-29 age bracket. Brancato beat Milltown's Kyle Price by 50 seconds. Price has won the annual race in his hometown for several years running. This year, the Spotswood High School alumnus finished second with a time of 16:50.0. Somerville's Arthur Smith III finished third with a time of 17:56.4. Milltown's Ivri Pinto was fourth overall with a time of 18:45.7. Jack Welsh rounded out the top five with a time of 18:48.0.

    Cassandra Raia was the highest female finisher. Raia, a former Charger, was 12th overall with a time of 19:38.3. Amanda D'Orvilliers was 22nd overall with a time of 20:52.8. Milltown's Amy Oleksy was 27th overall with a time of 21:19.9. South River's Audrey Bruden was 33rd overall with a time of 21:51.5. Milltown's Jennifer Spisso rounded out the top five female finishers with a time of 22:20.3. Spisso was 41st overall and won her age bracket.

    Three members of the Spotswood High School boys track and field program finished in the top 10. Spotswood's Shyami Craig was sixth overall with a time of 18:49.3. The teen was first in the 15 to 19 men's age bracket. Spotswood's Tyler Andre was eighth overall with a time of 18:52.9. Milltown's Anthony Oryniak was ninth overall with a time of 18:58.8.

    The Fun Run started off the annual runs through the borough on the Fourth of July. Next up was the 5K, which featured a field of 479 participants. The overcast skies made for a comfortable morning run. Milltown's annual Fun Run and 5K is sandwiched between the fishing derby, which starts off a full day of Fourth of July festivities, and the parade.
