Delaware State Police are asking for help in finding a man they suspect shot a motorist Sunday evening south of Milton.

The motorist, a 27-year-old Laurel man, was critically injured.

Troopers were dispatched to Cool Spring Road near Fisher Road about 7:50 p.m. for a Ford Explorer that crashed into a utility pole. Arriving troopers found the Ford driver had been shot in the back.

The motorist was taken to an area hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed the motorist was driving on West Springside Drive when a person fired several rounds at the Explorer, hitting the driver, police said.

After the shooting, the Explorer drove away and hit a utility pole a short distance away.

Through their investigation, police said detectives identified 24-year-old Timmarus Perry of Milton as being the shooter. Detectives obtained a warrant for Perry's arrest in connection with the shooting.

Detectives are asking anyone with information on Perry's whereabouts to call 9-1-1. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to contact detectives at (302) 752-3812. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333.

Send tips or story ideas to Esteban Parra at (302) 324-2299 or eparra@delawareonline.com.
