CARROLLWOOD — Calvin Dickey Jr. was a big man with a big heart. That’s how Carrollwood Day School peers, friends and family will remember the standout athlete — affectionately known as “CJ” — who was getting ready to begin his freshman year playing football at Bucknell University when he died July 12.
Shikellamy board votes to keep school sports teams separated by biological gender
Shikellamy school directorspassed a resolution limiting student athletes participation in sports based on their biological gender. Supporters of the district's move say it will protect the rights and safety of girls who play sports ahead of new Title IX regulations that prohibit discrimination based on gender identity in programs which receive federal funds. Those regulations take effect Aug. 1.
Sample Earns Bronze in 100-Meter Dash at the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials
MIRAMAR, Fla.- Rayven Sample '24 won bronze in the 100-meter dash in the T45-47 Divisions on Saturday morning at the U.S. Paralympic Team Trials. Sample's time of 11.44 finished third overall, and as the only runner in the T45 field, clinched first in his division. The graduated Bucknell dashman obtained a solid get-off and kept a solid clip through the first 50 meters. Sample reached into his fuel reserves and added a final burst to gain his bronze standing.
