Milton Black Panthers High School football preview 2024

MILTON, Pa. (WKBN) – Milton has garnered back-to-back nine-win seasons over the past two years including a nine-game win streak last fall. This summer, the Black Panthers have a new face leading the charge in head coach Matt Wilson.

“I’m eager to start building rich traditions and community relationships through football at Milton,” Wilson stated. “The kids here are resilient and they deserve the very best. A great deal of work has taken place behind the scenes over the past few months, but things are really shaping up. Our dedicated coaching staff make it a priority to be available to assist in the weight room, and offer field workouts for kids that have busy schedules.”

Milton returns six starters on offense and defense this coming season.

From an offensive standpoint, look for Chris Doyle (RB) and Montgomery Fisher (WR) to lead the offense with Alex Krall (C) to anchor the offensive line.

“At this point in time there are battles at every position to determine who the playmakers will be,” Wilson says. “We look to Alex to lead [us] up front.”

During its nine-game win streak, a year ago, the Black Panther defense allowed an average of 10.4 points per game and notched its signature win over Mount Carmel – 12-7 – in week four.

Wilson likes what he has on that side of the ball, “Defensively, we’ll be disciplined but aggressive. We’ll rely on returning senior starters Lucas Ditty and Izayah Minium in the secondary. I’m hoping to see Chris [Doyle] make a return to the defensive side of the ball this season [at linebacker].”

The Black Panthers will open the 2024 campaign with a road test at Shikellamy.
