Milwaukee police are looking for suspects involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that resulted in the death of an Oak Creek woman, according to the Milwaukee Police Department.

At 5:41 a.m. Aug. 26, Tai Rosa Perez, 38, was driving north on South Muskego Avenue in Milwaukee when a stolen vehicle with two occupants traveling south on South Muskego Avenue lost control and struck her head on at a high rate of speed, according to an investigative report from the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office.

The two occupants of the stolen vehicle then fled on foot. Milwaukee police said the vehicle was stolen on Aug. 23 near the 1700 block of North Marshall Street.

Perez, who was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained multiple injuries and was taken to a local hospital where she later died. The Medical Examiner's Office ruled her death an accident.

Kiomara Avila ― a first cousin of Perez's, who said they grew up together like sisters ― said Perez was an exceptional person who was an exemplary mother and aunt.

"She along with her siblings were the strength that kept her mother going after losing her soulmate at a young age," Avila said in a Facebook post. "She was her sister protector, her strength unbeatable when it came to protect her family. She hated being center of attention so she would have hated this post, but she couldn’t stay out of the spotlight light due to her beauty and light."

"This was not an accident this was more then reckless driving this was murder," Avila wrote in the post. "We want justice and a cone covered truck isn’t enough, a photo op with Cavalier Johnson and a speech about his “try’s” isn’t enough."

According to Milwaukee crime statistics, from July 31 to Aug. 27, there were 565 reported cases of motor vehicle theft in the city of Milwaukee .

Milwaukee police are still searching for the two suspects involved in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 414-935-7360, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 414-224-TIPS.
