Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers has finalized his coaching staff for the 2024-25 season.
Rivers initially hired Dave Joerger, Rex Kalamian and Pete Dominguez in late January after he took the head job on Jan. 26. This summer he has formally hired former Los Angeles Lakers head coach and Bucks assistant Darvin Ham , former Philadelphia 76ers assistant Jason Love and former Cleveland Cavaliers associate head coach Greg Buckner .
The plan is for Love to work with Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brook Lopez and Bobby Portis.
Rivers said he also hired his son Spencer Rivers as an assistant. Rivers spent last season as an assistant coach with the Detroit Pistons under Monty Williams. He began his coaching career in Philadelphia with his father in 2020. Rivers has experience working with the young Detroit backcourt of Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey and Marcus Sasser.
"Pete Dominguez will coach the summer league team," Doc Rivers said Tuesday. "A lot our skill development guys as his assistants. Yes, we're finished. Dave Joerger is back. Darvin Ham, Greg Buckner will be the three (front of the bench). And then Pete and Rex and the other guys we had last year will be the guys behind the bench."
The Bucks retained assistants Joe Prunty and Vin Baker off Adrian Griffin's staff.
"Yeah, I love our staff," Rivers said. "I think it may be one of the best staffs I've ever had. Because we have head coaching experience on the staff with me. And I've always liked that."
Patrick Mutombo and Trevor Gleeson were dismissed. Assistants J osh Oppenheimer, Sidney Dobner and DJ Bakker were dismissed earlier in the offseason.
