At 9:10 a.m. on May 28, the Robbinsdale Police Department observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen the previous day in Minneapolis.

According to the department, officers attempted to pull the vehicle over. The driver, a 15-year-old male, fled from officers. In the area of 30th Avenue North and Penn Avenue, officers began to disengage the suspect vehicle. As squads slowed, the suspect vehicle accelerated into the intersection of Lowry and Penn Avenues.

The 15-year-old driver entered the intersection against a red light and struck an SUV. That SUV then struck a minivan. Both vehicles were traveling on Penn Avenue. The stolen vehicle then struck a post and a chain-link fence near the intersection.

Officers report arriving and checking on the occupants of the vehicles. The two people in the SUV and the one person in the minivan declined medical attention. They left the scene after speaking to police and medics.

The 15-year-old suspect had sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to an area hospital by paramedics.

Charges against the suspect are pending.
