Gophers WR Daniel Jackson named to Biletnikoff watch list

Another day, another Minnesota Gophers player on a preseason watch list.

Wednesday, Daniel Jackson was included as a candidate to watch for the Biletnikoff Award, which is given each year to the best FBS receiver in the nation.

It’s the fifth preseason watch list to include a Gopher so far, with the others featuring Darius Taylor , Dragan Kesich and Aireontae Ersery .

Jackson, a fifth-year senior, led the Gophers in catches (59), receiving yards (831) and receiving touchdowns (eight) last season, earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors.

He needs 67 more catches, 178 yards and six touchdowns to join the exclusive list of Minnesota receivers to collect 200 receptions, 2,000 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns during their careers. Tyler Johnson and Eric Decker are the only two on that list, currently.

Jackson and the Gophers open the new season at home on Aug. 29 against North Carolina.
