Laurel Man Raided by SWAT for Federal Machine Gun Charge

U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, assisted by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department SWAT Team, executed a search and arrest warrant at the home of 27-year-old Rayshawn Devon Barnett on 1122 N. 9th Ave in Laurel on Wednesday morning.

HSI agents executed a federal arrest warrant for Barnett on charges of possession of a machine gun, in violation of 18 USC 922. Two adult females, one adult male, and one juvenile female were taken into custody at the scene, but were later released without charges.

Barnett was taken into custody without incident and is currently held at the Forrest County Jail in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, awaiting his initial court appearance..
